Here in Osprey Hotel, we attract all sorts. Often, we have families looking for a fun weekend away, couples looking for a romantic break or tourists who want to enjoy the gorgeous Kildare surroundings. A lot of our clientele are corporate travellers, here for business but still hoping to keep up some form of routine when it comes to their diet and exercise. Travelling should not be an excuse to skip your workout or fitness routine so here are some exercise ideas to keep you going no matter where you are:
Choose Your Hotel Carefully
If you do a bit of research, you can choose a hotel with a fully equipped gym, so your routine doesn’t need to stop. Osprey Leisure Club is free for use for all of our valued guests and there are classes available at a small extra fee if you’d like to join. Our state of the art gym has everything you’ll need for a full body workout including free weights, machines, bikes and treadmills. If you need help using any of the equipment, our knowledgeable trainers are on hand to give you advice and guidance.
Swim
Another fantastic full body exercise, and one which you can do when you stay in Osprey Hotel, is a swim. Work on your cardio fitness, strength and full body movement in our 20-metre pool which is open before work until late in the evening. Afterwards you can relax in our deck level sauna and steam room which have been proven to reduce stress, improve circulation, relax muscles and improve skin health. If your hotel doesn’t have a leisure centre, look locally and find a public pool or pay as you go gym.
Body Weight Exercises
When we go to a gym, we are surrounded by heavy, expensive machines and weights. While it is unfeasible to travel with weights, you can still do many exercises using just your body weight & core. You don’t need anything more than a will to exercise and enough space to lie down in. Sit-ups, squats, planks, press-ups and lunges are just a small sample of exercises you can do without equipment or much space. If you feel you need an extra push, bring some resistance bands; they’re light and take up very little space. Ask your instructor or PT for a plan and stick to it on your trip.
Yoga
If you have any experience doing yoga, whether it’s at home or in a regular class, you’ll know all you need is appropriate clothing and a mat. If you’re on the road and want to carry on your usual yoga routine, the spacious rooms in Osprey Hotel are ideal. If you have experience, you won’t need any guidance and can stretch away in your bedroom. If you are a beginner, choose your favourite instructor on YouTube and follow along to an online class.
Running
Another exercise that can be done no matter where you are in the world is running. Do a little research and map out the best running routes in your area checking if there are local tracks or parks that might be appropriate. If you are staying in a hotel, the reception or concierge have probably been asked this question before so don’t be afraid to ask for advice; locals know best. Don’t forget your running shoes and you’ll have no excuse not to get out and do a few laps.
Not only do you have many incentives and opportunities to work out when you stay in Osprey Hotel, our fantastic restaurant Herald and Devoy offer healthy, freshly cooked to order meals so your diet doesn’t have to suffer either.
